Review - Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Review - Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

I recently purchased the two very popular shades of Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks - Lolita and Vampira. I thought I'd post a quick review on my thoughts of this product, as I've been using the lipsticks for a few weeks now.

The Colors:

Lolita - The color of Lolita is really beautiful.  This is the third release of the color. The original Lolita that everybody loves is a dusty rose color. The second formula released was a darker brownish nude, an utter fail and manufacturing error by Kat Von D. This most recent formula is supposed to match the original. I never owned the original formula so I cannot directly compare, but from looking at swatches, mine seems much more of a nude shade than a rose. However, it has been confirmed that Kat Von D is releasing a Lolita II soon, so let's hope this will be a closer match! If you a looking for that original color, I would wait for Lolita II or wait for Dusty Rose, a liquid lippie color that is soon to be released by Anastasis Beverly Hills and looks beautiful!

VampiraVampira is a stunning deep red, vampy lip. My lip swatch above doesn't do it justice, I apologize. It is much more vampy in person (hence the name). I love this color! On Sephora.com it is describe as a deep reddish burgundy and that's exactly what it is. I will be giving this baby a lot of love come fall!

The Formula:

Here's the thing about the formula. I don't love it. But I don't hate it either. Compared to other liquid lipsticks I own, these are much thinner in formula. This is both a pro and a con. For application purposes I love that the formula is thin because it makes it easy to glide onto the lips precisely. However, it also means you need to build the color up since it's not thick and pigmented like a mousse would be. You might be able to see in the swatches above that I did experience some patchiness, especially with Vampira.

I do love that these are not drying on my lips. I find other liquid lipsticks that are more moussey and pigmented dry my lips up so quickly. I love these Kat Von D liquid lipsticks because they feel very smooth on the lips and are not drying at all. They dry completely matte and feel great on the lips all day.

Longevity:

These last pretty long, but not as long as other liquid lipsticks I own. I can eat a meal and drink my coffee without much product disappearing, but I will need to touch up around halfway through the day, mostly on the inner parts of my lips. The longevity is much better than that of a regular lipstick, but it could be better. I'm excited to see if she switches up the formula when she launches new colors in July!

Though this product isn't perfect, I do love it. The colors are too pretty, they're not drying, and they last just long enough. I don't mind retouching here and there. I will definitely be purchasing some more once Kat Von D releases new shades, though I want to try other liquid lipstick formulas to see what's out there.

Have you tried these? Yay or nay? xx Sarah
