My Top Summer Beauty Tips

My Top Summer Beauty Tips

With summer quickly approaching (it's getting very hot in Manhattan), I thought I'd compile a list of my favorite beauty tips for the warmer weather. Summer is of course one of my favorite times of the year. Warm weather and bonfires aside, I love this time of year simply because of summer makeup! Here are some easy summer beauty tips to let your natural beauty shine!

1. Skin is in. Don't forget this. One of the most important parts of our makeup routine is our skincare process. Taking care of our skin should be the most important thing on every gal's beauty list as your face is your base for your makeup. Can you paint a beautiful picture on a neglected, damaged canvas? Nope. No bueno. Please wear sunscreen and invest in good skincare products. Exfoliating two or three times a week can make the world of a difference on your complexion. Current skincare products: Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum, Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment, Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil (Great on blemishes!), Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen, Neutrogena Deep Moisture Night Cream. Not shown but equally loved: Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub

2. Try mixing illuminator into your foundation. There is nothing I love more than luminous, bright skin in the summer. I love taking 1 part liquid illuminator and mixing it with 2 parts foundation to give my skin a natural, flawless glow. Current faves: NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam, NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Punjab

3. Play with face masks! The heat and sun beating down on your skin can be very damaging. Additionally, wearing makeup while sweating in the heat can clog your pores. Rejuvenate and refresh your skin every couple of days with a face mask to keep it shining bright and free of impurities. There are so many face masks on the market, so you'll be sure to find one for your skin type! Currently loving: LUSH The Sacred Trush Fresh Face Mask, Boscia Bright White Mask

4. Highlight yo' features! Summer is the time to glow, baby, glow! My favorite part of makeup application in summer is highlighting and bronzing. I love taking a warm bronzer and applying to the places the sun would naturally hit my face. I then take a shimmery highlight and pop this just on the parts of my face I want to accentuate and make glow. Featured: Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Chocolate, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal

5.  Play with color! Summer is the time of year to experiment with bright colors, whether it be on your eyes, your cheeks, or your lips, don't be afraid to have a little fun. 6. Swap your powders for creams and sprays! Nothing is worse than feeling your face powder melt off your skin as you sweat in the heat. In the sun, powder products look much heavier and less natural than their cream equivalents. Say goodbye to powder blush, highlighter, bronzer and setting powders and hellooo to creams. I also like to switch it up and opt for a setting spray in the summertime as opposed to setting powder. It feels much more refreshing and you don't ever end up with cake face. No matter what tips you take from this post, always remember to be yourself. Nothing is more beautiful than that. Let your natural beauty shine and don't be afraid to go a few days without makeup in the summer.
