Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipsticks
I have been meaning to get this blog post up for a while and I am so happy to finally be writing for you. Every few months my Colourpop collection grows because the products are so inexpensive and the quality is amazing. When Colourpop launched their liquid lipsticks a few months ago, I was able to grab Avenue, Limbo and Mars. Over time they have consistently added new shades and improved their formula. In my last order I picked up Trap, Beeper and Chilly Chili. I have been wearing these non-stop and because Colourpop is online-only, meaning you can't swatch the products for yourself, I wanted to get an in-depth review up.
As I mentioned, I bought these six lipsticks at different times and I do believe they have slightly different formulas. Colourpop's liquid lippie formula is very watery, so if you're more accustomed to mousse-like liquid lipsticks, you may not like these. The first batch is quite drying and can be flaky, but they have since improved the formula to be less drying than the first batch. However, they are still drier than other liquid formulas I have tried. Another thing to note is these generally take more than one dip in the tube to cover the full lips, unlike some formulas where a little goes a long way. But for $6 per lipstick, I really can't complain about it.
- Shade selection - there are so many cool colors to choose from, ranging from every shade of nude to blue!
- Price - $6(!!!!)
- Longevity - these last all day on me
- No transfer
- Ultra matte
- Sometimes product can flake off
- I don't love the applicator. It's a stiff doe-foot style applicator and I prefer more flexible ones
- Can accentuate fine lines in your lips
I absolutely love Trap and Chilly Chili.
Trap is very similar to their lippie stick, Tootsi, if you are familiar with that. It also reminds me of a darker, more grey Dose of Colors Stone. It's really unique.
Chilly Chili is my absolute favorite. The formula of Chilly Chili is slightly different than the others, and some people were unhappy with this because this one does transfer a bit. However, I love it. Chilly Chili is not ultra matte like the other lipsticks. Instead it dries with a very slight sheen that I think is beautiful. The color is a muted, plum brown and I swear I don't own anything like it.
