One of my favorite makeup products is foundation. I love trying new foundations and experimenting with different coverage, finishes and formulas. I have been wanting to try the Ex1 foundation ever since I heard Amanda Ensing rave about it months ago on her YouTube channel. I finally purchased it and have been using it for about a month now, so I feel that I can provide a full, detailed review.
I purchased three shades from LookFantastic.com. This foundation retails for $19.25. The website has 471 customer reviews listed for this product, and an overall rating of 4.5 stars. The reason this foundation is so hyped up is because it is the only foundation on the market (that I know of) that is specifically designed for those with olive skin tones.
Everybody has different undertones in their skin. Some people have yellow, others pink, and some neutral. If you have Asian or Mediterranean skin like me, you most likely have olive undertones. Olive skin generally has strong yellow undertones, along with a slight neutral-ness, making it very hard to find a foundation match. When I buy foundations, they are often either too pink, too yellow, or too beige. I have to say, out of all the foundations I own, this Ex1 foundation is the best match I have ever found for my skin. It has just enough yellow and neutral undertones to it, it is just beautiful!
I purchased three shades because I am very hesitant about purchasing foundation online and wasn't quite sure which shade I would be. Additionally, I sometimes self-tan and sometimes don't, so my skin tone can be all over the place. I found that F200 is the best match for me when I'm slightly self tanned, and F100 matches my natural, fair skin.
The formula - A thick liquid that is medium to full coverage. It is very buildable and gives a beautiful, satin/matte finish that looks very natural on my skin.
The packaging - Beautiful! I especially love that this foundation has a pump and as you continue to use the product, it moves up in the bottle so you will be able to easily see when you're running low!
The longevity - As you can see in the pictures above, this foundation wears very well. After 8 hours I took two pictures, one with flash and one without so you can see the oil that built up on my face throughout the day. I will be honest, the flash made my face look worse than it really was. While my skin does not stay completely oil-free and matte with this foundation, it only gets a little oily after hours of wear; not as bad as it looks above.
I am more than happy with this foundation and how it wears. It is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine and I highly suggest it to those of you who are looking for a perfect match for your olive skin. xx Sarah
